MRF leader Mustafa Karadayi meets President Erdogan of Türkiye, discusses Bulgaria’s early elections and gas supply concerns

Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) leader Mustafa Karadayi had a key meeting on August 1 with Republic of Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The meeting was attended by the Foreign Minister of Türkiye Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the Deputy Chairman of the MRF Ahmed Ahmedov. Karadayi and Ahmedov were visiting Bulgaria south-eastern neighbouring state, the MRF said on its web site.

Mustafa Karadayi stressed on the fact that early elections are coming up in Bulgaria in October. On Monday, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev scheduled the vote for a new parliament for October 2, 2022.

The elections will pass, but the hard winter will arrive, Mustafa Karadayi told President Erdoğan.

Erdoğan and Karadayi discussed in their meeting how Türkiye could be helpful to Bulgaria in these difficult and hard times. The two gentlemen also talked about the relations between Bulgaria and Türkiye in the context of energy and natural gas supplies.

MRF leader Mustafa Karadayi and the deputy chairman of the Movement Ahmed Ahmedov had a series of other meetings during their visit in Bulgaria’s south-eastern neighbouring country.

On Sunday, Karadayi and Ahmedov attended the funeral of the mother of Faik Öztrak, the deputy chairman and spokesman of the Republican People's Party (PRP). The DPS leader laid a wreath on the grave of Mr. Öztrak’s mother on behalf of the Movement.

Karadayi also spoke with the chairman of the Republican People's Party (PRP) of Türkiye Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, as well as with Ankara mayor Mansur Yavaş.

On Monday, Mustafa Karadayi and Ahmed Ahmedov had a huge meeting with Bulgarian citizens in Turkey in connection with the forthcoming early legislative vote. The meeting was attended by representatives of the MRF for the region of Trakia (Thrace) - Güner Çetin, for the Marmara region - Lütvi Özgür, for the Bursa region - Taner Çauş, for the İzmir region - Ismail Vatansever, and for the Istanbul region - Fahri Vatansever. More than a hundred MRF supporters attended the gathering.

The leader of the Movement recalled that months earlier at an iftar dinner in Istanbul, he had warned that Bulgaria was facing early elections, as it was governed by the weakest and most incompetent government in the democratic history of Bulgaria. Let us wait for the Bayram to pass and then we will get ready for the elections, which will happen, sooner or later, Karadayi said then. And here we go, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev a moment later issued a decree for the early parliamentary elections to be held on October 2. It happened, the MRF chairman later recognised.

"Geopolitically speaking, we are going through difficult times. The former government has made many blunders. Especially in the sphere of gas and energy supply. And most of the solutions to these challenges run through Turkey," Mustafa Karadayi said.
