MRF MPS KARADAYI, PEEVSKI, LETIFOV AND ANASTASOV ASKING A QUESTION TO PM KIRIL PETKOV: WHY HAS THE GOVERNMENT ALLOWED THE SIGNING OF A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE VOLUYAK-DRAGOMAN RAILWAY LINE WITHOUT THE APPROVAL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

MRF chairman and parliamentary group leader in the 47th National Assembly Mustafa Karadayi, in a joint action with his fellow MPs Delyan Peevski, Halil Letifov and Stanislav Anastasov have submitted a question to Prime Minister Kiril Petkov regarding a decision by the Council of Ministers. The decree allows the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the National Railway Infrastructure Company to sign a contract for project funding of the project named "Modernization of the railway line Sofia-Dragoman-silver border, railway section Voluyak-Dragoman-Phase 1", without obtaining the required approval by the European Commission of the financial aid amounting to 166.2 million Bulgarian levs, part of the "Transport and Transport Infrastructure" 2014-2020 operational program.

The matter raises concerns of what is the reasoning behind the Council of Ministers decree on the signing of this agreement, given that the project has not yet been approved by the European Commission, whether these actions of the government are in line with the guidelines for spending European funds, and will the project be frozen until the appropriate approval is confirmed by the EU.

We must remind that neither the MRF nor its MPs have any bearing on the subject of this agreement, and the inadmissible media manipulations and falsehoods disseminated by certain media are obviously aimed at diverting public attention from another consecutive illegitimate action of the government, leading to misuse of European funds.
