MRF supports the formation of a new government, will discuss policies

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) is optimistic that a new government will be formed, MRF deputy chairman Stanislav Anastasov told an interview with the Bulgarian National Television. Earlier Anastasov attended consultations between the MRF and Bulgaria’s president Rumen Radev.

“However, there is a price we cannot pay,” he added, referring to political forces, like Vazrazhdane, that deny the Euro-Atlantic values the MRF safeguards.

"Retreat from Euro-Atlantic values is a price that not only MRF, but Bulgaria cannot afford to pay," Anastasov pointed out.

He firmly rejected the drawing of "any red and pink lines" that undermine the dialogue.

Anastasov stressed that efforts are being made to form a regular government because all the facilities are there to embody a regular cabinet, as well as to have a parliamentary majority to bring stability to the political system and the state.

The MRF will support policies, Anastasov said, stressing that the Movement will participate in all forms of dialogue.

"We are fully aware that Bulgarian citizens have an expectation of a regular government, not for any other reason, but because their problems are getting worse day by day. The same applies to Bulgarian businesses. At the same time, the problems of the Bulgarian budget and fiscal revenues are getting bigger because of the terrible legacy from the previous government," the MRF member of parliament said.

As for supporting the election of Vezhdi Rashidov as head of the 48th National Assembly and the return of the paper ballot for the elections Anastasov said: "The votes are on specific topics. I don't see a direct link with the formation of government because it is based on specific policies. This is not a model of governance. For the MRF, the return of the paper ballot is a matter of trust in the election process.”

Asked whether the MRF wanted a third mandate for forming a government to be handed to them, Stanislav Anastasov replied: "Of course. We do not run away from our responsibility. If the responsibility comes to us, we will do everything possible, and not just in words.”
