Hamid Hamid becomes vice president of the Liberal International. Huge recognition for the MRF and for Bulgaria

Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) parliamentary group deputy chair Hamid Hamid was elected by an overwhelming majority to become a vice president of the Liberal International.

The delegates of the 75th anniversary congress of the worldwide organisation that is taking place in Sofia re-elected Hakima El Haite as president. During her new term, she will have six vice presidents, and one of them is Hamid Hamid. Eight candidates competed for the positions.

The Liberal International, which is celebrating 75 years since its establishment, is holding its top-level forum in Bulgaria’s capital. The nation’s liberal party, the MRF, is hosting the event, in which more than 250 delegates from more than 60 countries are participating.

Having this position is an honour to me, as well as a responsibility, Hamid Hamid said and added that he is dedicated to the encouragement of liberal ideas in Bulgaria.

The election of Hamid Hamid is a huge recognition not only for the MRF, but also for Bulgaria. It is a symbol that the Movement for Rights and Freedoms is the true custodian of liberal values in our country, MRF leader Mustafa Karadayi told the congress. He recalled that the co-chairman of the European liberals (of the ALDE Party) is the member of the European parliament from MRF Ilhan Kucuk.
